Hi All,
From the mail shot to all adult member on the 26th of April as follows:-
So far i have received 23 email from a club membership of 150 plus
From which 4 cannot play at all - so leave 19 players - those who have replied can only make some dates and some can make all
This does NOT inspire me to let Summer Hockey to happen this year
Unless i get more confirmation by Tuesday the 4th of May - i will be CANCELLING all of the summer hockey for Adults.

Cambridgeshire Hockey Volunteers Meeting - All [Posted by sandra 2010-03-11]
Cambridgeshire Hockey and Living Sport formed a partnership 2 years ago to run the development of hockey across the county, which would not have taken place without the latter’s help. However the County cannot rely indefinitely on the support of Living Sport and it is felt that we should try and stand on our own two feet.
So that Cambridgeshire Hockey continues to offer excellent opportunity for young hockey players from across the county, we need more people to team up with the existing volunteer group from Cambridgeshire.
A meeting will be held on Monday 22nd March 2010 from 7.00 pm at Living Sport Offices, Fen Road , Pidley, where we will share with you our plans and outline the type of support we would be looking for. There would be no obligation for anyone to commit its a chance for people to find out more. If you are interested in helping shape how hockey will run in the future, please come along.

The East Hockey Youth Panel are looking for Young Leaders to join their team for the East Yazoo Mini Hockey Festival!

The Festival takes place at Harleston Magpies Hockey Club, The Warrens, Harleston Rd, Weybread, Diss, IP21 5UD on the 17 & 18 April and will include the East Mini Yazoo Hockey Championships, Quicksticks Tournament and many other fun things organised by the East Youth Panel.
At the event you will be involved with the following activities:
-Result Running, manning the photography table, selling programmes, controlling the tournament table
-Helping in the Activities Tent with face painting, colouring competitions
-Helping run the outside activities: Hockey Speed Gun, Inflatable run and many more
-Helping run the Quicksticks Tournament
If you are a young leader between 14 and 21 years, have experience of leadership with other young people (e.g. in a mini hockey environment), you have confidence, good humour, discipline, and essentially, you seriously want to be a part of hockey’s best team of young leaders then we want to hear from you now!!

Next Monday night (22nd February 2010) we have a guest GK coaching session delivered by Simon Mason, former England and Great Britain Goalkeeper. He will be available to coach our club goalkeepers (junior and adults). This will run from 6.45pm – 8.00pm and Simon will be assisted by Ross Hayward who has been doing the GK coaching to-date.
Immediately after Simon will be available for a chat in the bar – about GK coaching, or about his candidacy for England Hockey Board President, which I understand is a four way election affair this year.

National Indoor Hockey Championships Final 31st Jan - Social [Posted by penney 2009-12-14]
The National Indoor Hockey Championship Finals are coming up in January and we would like to arrange a group of us to go up and watch the event. It is being held in Nottingham this year at the Tent FM Arena on the 31st January 2010.
If anyone would like tickets to the event please contact me directly and I will arrange tickets. £11 for adults and £6 for juniors i believe. Could you please pass on to anyone between the ages of 14-21 who may be interested in representing the East of England on the Youth Panel to develop hockey across the region.
They are looking for enthusiastic committed young people keen on hockey including umpires, leaders, coaches, players, officials or supporters who would like to make a difference to hockey as they know it. They have four meetings a year as well as helping to organise and run the East Clubs Festival and supporting the East Schools championships. If you apply you would need to be able to commit to:

17th + 18th April (Clubs Festival – Harleston, Suffolk accommodation provided)

This weekend the Regional Qualification Tournament for Indoor Hockey is taking place in Cambridge, the winner of which gets a place in National League Indoor Div 2. If you find yourself in town shopping this weekend, take a quick break and come and support the club. The tournament is held at the Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre (a 5 min walk from the bus station) and the times are on the home page.
It would be really nice to see a group of people there cheering on the indoor squad and is a great opportunity to see some quality hockey.

SIHC Academy Suspended - Juniors [Posted by Ben_Scarrow 2009-11-03]
We have taken the decision to suspend the Friday night Academy sessions with immediate effect.
This decision has come for a number of reasons, in part the changes forced by the change of Coaches, but also due to the low attendance levels.
We propose to continue assessing players in all club coaching and playing activities over the coming weeks and will, in conjunction with our new Director of Junior Development, James Waters look to re-launch the Academy early in 2010.

NEW ARRANGEMENTS FOR MONDAY NIGHT CLUB COACHING - All [Posted by Ben_Scarrow 2009-10-25]
I am pleased to report that the new arrangements for Monday night’s Club Coaching 8.00pm – 9.30pm are as follows:
- That the session will be split into 2, or 3 groups, nominally Group #A Men’s, Group #B Women’s, Group #C Men’s / Women’s 1st/2nds. The priority is groups #A & #B as these will in the main include men’s 3rd, 4th, 5th and Women’s 3rd team players.
- Players will be invited to join the appropriate group (we will not force people into groups, but stronger women’s players for example will be encouraged to join the men’s group so that they are more challenged through the session)
- That Simon Shorter and Simon Fairhall will each take on a Head Coach role and stick with one group for a 3 week period, before swapping
- That Helen Clarke and Anna Whittome (a coach from March HC looking to develop her coaching) will take on an Assistant Coach role
- There is scope for further Assistant Coaches (the Club will support anyone taking a Level One coaching course), and in time hopefully a new Head Coach emerging!
Genuinely, thank you to all those who have provided feedback on the Monday night coaching and highlighted their coaching needs. I believe that we now have in place an excellent structure and hope that we can all benefit from this. Thank you also to Simon, Helen and Anna for their volunteering for these roles.

I regret to inform that Alyn Meredith, who we had engaged for Club Coaching, Academy Coaching and a junior development role has decided that he is not able to continue. As a result we need to make alternative arrangements for the coaching. We will announce any new appointments as soon as they are made.
Club Coaching Monday 8.00 – 9.30pm
In the interim I will take on the Club Coaching session, with assistance from other Coaches within the Club.
Academy
We will arrange what will probably be a rotation of coaches for the Academy. For this reason we will keep the Academy group as it currently is with no new additions for the moment. It should be noted that in normal circumstances places can move in, and after assessment, out of the Academy.
Junior Development
I will work with the Junior Head Coaches, the Club Captains and the Management Team over the junior sections of the Club Development Plan. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

For every game after the end of September that a player's subs are not paid they will be charged an extra £1 per game they play up to a limit of 5 games at which point they will no longer be eligible for selection until their subs are paid. In addition priority will be given to those players who have paid their subs.

England women's Head Coach Danny Kerry has today announced his squad for the EuroHockey Nations Championships in Amsterdam, which gets underway on 22 August. Kerry has made just one change from the squad that competed at the Samsung
Hockey Champions Trophy in Sydney last month with Leicester forward Hannah Macleod brought in, replacing her club teammate Gemma Darrington.
Younger players Nicola White, Laura Unsworth, Katie Long and Susie Gilbert have all been retained in the side that is tasked with a top four finish in the Netherlands, a position that would secure valuable automatic qualification for the 2010 World Cup in Argentina.
Despite welcoming a number of new faces to the group over the past year, there is still plenty of experience in the side with nine of the squad
having played in the last EuroHockey Nations Championships in 2007. Beth Storry, Helen Richardson, Kate Walsh, Chloe Rogers (pictured right), Alex Danson, Rebecca Herbert, Sally Walton, Hannah Macleod and Kerry Williams were all part of the side that won bronze in Manchester two years ago and in doing so, guaranteed Great Britain's automatic qualification to the Beijing
Olympic Games 12 months later.
For Coach Danny Kerry, the EuroHockey Nations Championships has always been the most important competition of the season: "Following a tough Champions Trophy the group has trained for and focussed hard on the primary tournament of this year, the EuroHockey Nations Championships. Our matches against Russia and Azerbaijan are critical and we are mindful of the fact we have very little experience of playing these nations. The Netherlands, playing at home, will be a great test for us and we look forward to playing in front of a large crowd against the World's number one ranked team. We will all have to deliver to our highest standards to give us the best chance of early
World Cup qualification."
England get their European campaign underway on the opening day of the Championships when they face Russia in Pool A before meeting the hosts, reigning World and Olympic Champions the Netherlands the next day. The pool phase concludes on Tuesday 25 August with England taking on Azerbaijan knowing that a top two finish in the group will not only secure a place in the semi finals but a place at the World Cup in Rosario next August.

Hi everyone
I hope you are all having a lovely summer.
We, the Club Management Team, are already taking the first steps towards the new season and one of these tasks is to ensure all the Club's Officers are in place for the beginning of the season. This will ensure that the Club functions effectively and is seen as a well run Club when we try to access funding, promote the Club to new players and develop the Club for the future.
We currently have some positions which are vacant and we now need to fill these. Further information on what the role involves can be found under the MGT Pages.
Please take a look at the list below and if you feel you would like to give something back to the Club, develop yourself and be a part of the running of the Club please contact one of the Management Team if you need more information or wish to put your name forward.
Remember the Club will not run itself and we rely on Members taking on these roles and join us in having fun and making a difference.

The number one event for England's brightest and best young leaders is ready for the off and the recruitment drive for the England Hockey National Young Leader Challenge 2009 is now open!

There are England Hockey Leadership Courses being run across the country. They are organised in schools, clubs, counties and regions. All young leaders wishing to participate in the Challenge should first have participated in either an England Hockey Leadership Course or a Step into Sport Leadership Course or secure an endorsement from their hockey club's Volunteer Coordinator.
The 2009 YAZOO National Youth Hockey Festival will be at Highfields Sports Club in Nottingham from 15-17 May. In addition to the Challenge, the Festival includes the Men's and Women's EH Cup Finals, the U9 Wild Festival, the National Mini Hockey Championships plus other fun activities.
The appointed team of young leaders will be on site from the evening of Friday 15 May until 5pm on Sunday 17 May. The weekend will be packed full of hands-on hockey activity with challenges, games, workshops and hockey matches of the highest calibre.
If you are a young leader aged between 13 and 21 years, have experience of
leadership with other young people (e.g. in a mini hockey environment), you have confidence, good humour, discipline, and essentially, you seriously want to be a part of hockey's best team of young leaders then we want to hear from you now!

Free Quicksticks Course (Grassroots Grants) - All [Posted by Ben_Scarrow 2009-04-24]
St Ives Hockey Club is amongst a number of local groups who have secured funds from Grassroots Grants recently. £3931 has been awarded to enable the Club to restock its equipment cupboards, to purchase playing kit for all the junior teams and to deliver some coaching workshops, which will be on the new England Hockey game for Primary School aged children, Quicksticks, and the new coaching syllabus for talented young hockey players.
The date for the Quicksticks course (free, and open to all local School teachers and Club coaches) is Monday 22nd June 2009, from 6.00pm-9.00pm at the St Ivo Outdoor Centre, and for the new coaching syllabus 10.00am-1.00pm on Saturday 11th July 2009. MEN'S 2ND XI REARRANGED GAME VS MARKET DEEPING - Mens [Posted by Andy_Land 2009-04-06]
This is the final league game of the season for any of the teams within the club and is certainly one of the most important. A win takes the 2nd XI up into Div 3NW and as such a traveling crowd would be welcomed. The game is being held at City of Peterborough's ground by the Edith Cavel Hospital with a push back time of 7:45.

The Festival will include the East Mini Yazoo Hockey Championships, Quicksticks Tournament and many other fun things organised by the East Youth Panel.
At the event you will be involved with the following activities:
· Result Running, manning the photography table, selling programmes, controlling the tournament table & Assisting Jasper & Jess
· Helping in the Activities Tent, assisting with: badge making, Jasper and Jess masks making, face painting & coloring competitions
· Helping run the outside activities: Hockey Speed Gun, Inflatable run & Children’s Games e.g. Giant Jenga
· Helping run the Quicksticks Tournament

Please see attached and below details of level 2 coaching courses being run by the England Hockey in the East Region in 2009. In addition to the usual four day course we are offering more experienced candidates, that meet set criteria the opportunity to apply for the new Fast Track course, or via the APEL Accredited Prior Experiential Learning route.
All prospective candidates are encouraged to read carefully the Background Information doc and decide which route is best suited to them. (For the majority this will in all likelihood be for the four day course.) However candidates who feel they meet the APEL criteria should complete the appropriate application form and send this to the regional office, once received we will assess applications and make a recommendation as to the most appropriate route to take.
The closing date for the Fast Track course is Friday 27th March. Please note that there are only a limited number of places so please ensure you apply ASAP.
The closing date for the full course is Friday 8th May.

Nomads are proposing to host a Level 1 Umpiring Course at St. John's School, Grange Road, Cambridge on Sunday 8 March. The course will run from 10am-4pm.
