Match Report: The Lions took on the Pumas for the first of the summer league fixtures. An interesting line up for the Pumas ensured that there were no outfield ladies and agreed that all ladies goals would could 'double'. The Lions were lucky not to go behind early on and some good defending from John Tudor and Sandra Di Lustro kept the scorers level. After some good hockey from the Pumas they found a break through and not only scored once but twice. The Lions then needed to up the pace and get some possession back. The lose of James Cahill early on was another set back for the Lions. Good work in the middle of the park from Chris Duncan and Alfie Brennan come into the game. After some good interplay Ally Brennan was on hand to slot in before half time. The second become a more open game. Right from the off pressure on the defence lead to another Pumas goal and taking a goal cushion into the final stages meant a change in formation and with good forward play lead to the Pumas Keeper saving well on a number of occasions. As time was running out Ally Brennan was on hand to double her tally and to give the Lions the lead. Many positives to be taken and great performances all over the pitch including Mitch Newman, Anne Selfe and Michael England at the back.
