Ladies 1 vs Cambridge South 1

Ladies 1 vs Cambridge South 1

All fired up St Ives were ready for action. From the get go, St Ives were on the attack. After momentarily losing possession Drinkers regained it with steel determination. A quick glance up followed by a beautifully weighted pass through to Abby around the keeper. Abby made quick work of a smashing goal!

While St Ives enjoyed their early lead, Cambs South showed their fitness and speed. The defence was run ragged by 120 and her pals and found their way through to draw level about 15 minutes in.

By the first half, Naomi (AKA DOD) had fallen with grace and everyone was feeling the heat.

After an inspiration half time talk from Juliana and Leights, Naomi was so focused she left her stick in the goal, secretly using it as an addition obstruction to fool Cambs South!

Minutes into the second half Jules felt the heat and ran off to Naomi’s dismay when she realised her stick was no use in the goal and should have been in her hands. Bec’s was ready and raring to go while the skipper caught her breath and guzzled her drink.

Drinkers, the power house continued her driving runs and supportive play throughout - is there nothing this beauty can’t do?! Drinkers tried everything to get the ball back into our attacking end, literally running end to end but the final whistle came just too soon. Given a few more minutes anything could have happened.

Excellent play from everyone, steely determination and commitment on the pitch. Well played Ladies x
