on a warm September morning St Ives mens 3’s started their season with a tough away game at Royston 1’s.
St Ives defended valiantly for the first quarter and looked to be heading into half time at 0-0, but 2 short corners in succession found the back of Ives net.
The second half started in much of the same manner wave after wave of Royston attacks repelled, but St Ives were starting to feel their way into the game causing Royston a few defensive issues themselves. But a further 3 Royston short corners saw St Ives slip to 5-0. But Ives rallied in the final quarter a counter attack down the left saw the ball squared to Jack Maltby who calmly slotted the ball into the next at the back post.
The 3’s preseason continues next week with a home game against Wisbech 2’s.
