Mens 3 vs St Neots 1

Match Report

St Ives knew this was going to be a difficult game, as playing any clubs 1st team means there may be a few players at a higher ability.

The weather was good and the sun was out for this time of year, which would of lifted spirits. The first half saw St Neots press High on St Ives causing problems in getting the ball into the oppositions half. Despite this St Ives held stong for quite a while, but it could not last from the constant pressure and we were down 1-0. The first half saw a short corner against St Ives that was struck straight away, but didn't count as the umpire ruled it was struck outside the D.

The team started the second half with confidence with the high press that St Neots were still employing not proving effective. St Ives had managed to work around them and cause the game to spread out. St Neots gained a second goal that went over the keeper, which quickly lead to two more goals for the home side. Tired legs on both sides saw standards drop, but it was St Neots that took advantage and gained another goal to end the game 5-0.
