Ladies 1 vs Cambridge Nomads 1

An unusually late push back for St Ives ladies was not enough to keep them from taking 3 points against travelling team Cambridge Nomads

Ives were quick to press in the first half, with Nat Gaunt firing home a well earned penalty corner to make it 1-0.

Despite Liv Watson’s beautifully taken rounders shot and a couple of other rebounds, Ives finished the first half 1-0 with a fire in their belly for more.

An extended half time break due to flood light difficulties saw Ives discussing the possibility of stealth mode activation for the upcoming 35 minutes.

Fortunately, the game was able to continue to ensure Ives sealed the deal with another 2 goals to follow.

Strong support from the midfield, with captain Jules Griffiths fighting throughout and a solid defence from all of the girls at the back, meant that attacking play continued and runs down the wing from Nicola Dawes and Emily Drinkwater kept the press hot.

Watson found the backboard for the 1st goal of the second half with the 2nd coming from great play down the right, including a heroic run from right back Alice Fryer alongside Emilie Smith, with the ball to be swept across by Drinkwater to find perfectly positioned Abby Scarrow who calmly slotted it away.

Some things to work on for next week but another great team performance bags 3 points for the Ives.

MOM was shared by Alice Fryer and Emily Drinkwater, who both showed great support throughout, although some may say for Drinkers, without the necessary support herself. 👙
