Ladies 2 vs Ely City 1

The game started strong from St Ives. They were working well as a team and were dominating the top of the table side. After 10 minutes Ely switched on and tried to take control of the game. A quick run down the right side and lifted ball into the goal reminded St Ives that this team is top of the table. St Ives did not give up and came back strong. Lovely passes down the right, back and forth, led to a lovely ball from Dorrie running base line providing a lovely pass to Sally Parker who took a first time shot at goal, the Ely keeper went to ground to make a great save, rebound came back to Parker who lifted ball over Ely keeper to make sure she didn’t miss her second chance. St Ives were fighting and followed quickly with another goal from Vicky Leighton from a well worked short corner again Captain Dorrie assisted.

Ely 1’s top of the league team found themselves 2-1 down all within the first half. Ely did not let it phase them and within minutes of St Ives second goal Ely had scored an equaliser. The second half was a continuous battle between the two teams, with neither team giving up. St Ives kept pushing and threatened to score more but couldn’t quite convert. There were no further goals and the second half finished 0-0 leaving the final score as 2-2. A very good game for St Ives showing how strong they are and they deserve their position in this league.
