Ives travelled the long slow trip deep into Fenland for a mid afternoon game at the Peele Sports Centre against an out of form Long Sutton with a depleted squad of just 12.
Long Sutton scored an early goal thanks to some miscommunication over whose free hit a ball was being hit into the circle and very well deflected first time past Denman in goal. A second moments later was courtesy of some excellent fast passing play from Long sutton, and a third from a Penalty corner clipping Denmans kickers but sneaking in past the post player.
In the first 5 minutes the Ives squad was depleted to 11 with Ranner taking an injury.
A 4th was ruled to have been hit too high on a PC, before St Ives took control of the game and started creating some good chances.
A goal from Tom Hingston, returning from a stint in the 4s and keen to make a place his, saw the score 3-1 at half time.
Ives pushed well in the second half, with MoM Andy getting a goal to bring it back to 3-2, before calamity struck as both Denman and RB Greg both went to play a ball then both pulled out, allowing a tap in for the sutton forward, thus earning Denman DoD for not ignoring Greg and going through him.
A sublime team passing goal made it 4-3, before the game turned even more physical, (having been overly physical the whole way through) and then Long sutton scored their best team goal of the afternoon with a quick pass across goal hit first time to bring the final score of 5-3 and Ives, battered and bruised a slow long trip down the A47
