The 1’s enjoyed their eighth win in eight games with a hard battled game away to Long Sutton.
The dilemma of no toilet roll had the girls quaking in their astros worried that their PMP’s could not be shed!! But alas an extended warm up around the leisure centre in hunt of toilet paper resulted in joy and relief!!
The game started with St Ives attacking from the first push back dodging the twigs and players they were able to put early pressure into the goal. Following some excellent saves by the Long Sutton GK Juliana put a perfectly paced ball across the keeper resulting in a superb deflection (we won’t mention it was one of their players).
Following a quick reset St Ives again were able to put pressure on the GK chasing their rebounds resulting in Liv hitting the backboard with gusto.
Long Sutton were able to stretch play and were quick to attack but were foiled by player of the match Debs. Her solid defensive play kept Long Sutton at bay.
St Ives held the fort even with 10 players following a green card issued to Claire for questioning the umpire but St Ives were able to ward off any attacking play by Long Sutton and the game finished 2-0 setting them up nicely for the double header next weekend !!
