Ladies 2 vs Wisbech Town 2

lovely morning for hockey, St Ives 2’s were at home against Wisbech 2. St Ives started off well , with some great attacking opportunities but were caught on counter attacks that resulted in a goal to the visitors, definitely against the run of play. Ives needed to make decisions quicker and with our normal accuracy. Ives kept pushing and nothing seemed to give them goals they deserved, penalty corners came and went, Wisbech had a solid defence. Half-time came we re-grouped and we knew we were the better team but needed to be patient so we could bring this game back under our control , we kept pushing creating numerous opportunities and finally our patience paid off, with another well worked team goal ball coming out of defence to midfield then into the attacking line with a great pass to Sally Parker who was waiting in the oppositions D , Parker took a first time shot at the Wisbech keeper who made s great save kicking the ball back into Parker’s path with a bit of individual skill Parker lifted the ball passed the keeper into bottom left hand corner game was now 1-1. With endless attacking opportunities throughout the 2nd half, even down to the last minute a great position and shot by Zara Dighton went just wide, game stayed at 1-1. POM went to Miss Bell.
