Mens 3 vs Kettering 2

Trip up the A14 for the 3’s with an important mid table game vs. Kettering. After a tight 2-2 draw at home earlier in the season this was going to be nip and tuck.

Bright start from Ives: lots of good movement and early pressure saw Kettering under some pressure, but countering well - end to end stuff. Good work rate from Jago and Jones, f ast movement on the wings, and some great off the ball running from Hingston and McKenna saw Ives giving Kettering some problems. Kettering continued to counter - very tight first half - and then with a few minutes to half time, broke down their right. The crossed ball seemed to miss all defensive sticks, found their forward who finished very well. Disappointing for all.

Second half saw more and better pressure, with more composure in midfield and better movement, everyone working hard. Ball across the face of the Kettering goal three or four times but no one quite in the right place: goalmouth scramble - just wouldn’t go in. A disallowed goal gave Ives hope but not enough on the day. Back down the A14 with Spalding at home next week.
