Mens 3 vs Cambridge South 3

It was a late start for St Ives against Cambs South, so the energy levels were a bit low to start with. We had people missing junctions on the way there and despite many reminders someone still managed to forget their white socks.

Everyone knew it was going to be a tricky game as Cambs south pitch was well known for its bounce and the team are no walk overs. Despite this, morale was good and St Ives got stuck in. Cambs South were pressing high from the start, so was difficult to get out of our half and after a little time we were a goal down. Heads were not down though as it was early, but the rain came in and slowed the game and everyone's ability to control the ball. This led to a second goal against St Ives.

After half time with the rain stopping and a stern talk from the captain, there was improvement all around. Cambs still pressing high caused continued pressure, but links and simple play meant St Ives had a few chances and short corners, however none managed to see the goals go our way. Cambs south overloaded the defence and got their 3rd and final goal. Despite the loss there was a lot of core structure seen however accuracy and first touch were the missing parts on a difficult pitch.
