Welcome to the Junior Section of St Ives Hockey Club. We provide coaching and training for children aged 3 and upwards on Monday evenings during the hockey season.
For our youngest players we have our Hockey Sprogs (aged 3-6). Our wonderful coach and adult helpers encourage the children with simple games to develop their stick and ball control. These sessions are 45 minutes long.
For older children, they then move on to our ability-based groups, working with the coaches and adult helpers to progress their skills. These sessions are all 1 hour.
They also have the opportunity to put training into practice at friendly tournaments with other clubs throughout the season.
Generally, the children stay with us until about 13 years old when we aim to transition them to become the players of the future in our adult teams.
No experience is required and we offer 2 free trial weeks to see if your child enjoys it and provide sticks, balls and plenty of enthusiasm (we do recommend shin pads as well!)
For parents we suggest warm coats and a hot drink, as hockey is an all-weather, through the winter sport and not much stops us!
