Ladies 1 vs Long Sutton 1

St Ives Ladies 1s bagged 3 points with a 7-0 win against Long Sutton 1s.

The home team started strong and put the pressure on the visitors. Eventually winning a short corner which was stopped on the line by a defender’s foot. Claire Young stepped up to the spot and opened the scoring. Ives continued to dominate and a great ball in across the D found Olivia Watson who fired the ball past the keeper. Captain Jules Griffiths got the third goal when she found herself in some space in the D and reversed the ball into the bottom far corner of the goal.

Ives had found their flow and continued to control the game. Maddie Jones had a perfect opportunity on her open stick, but took it onto her reverse and made the GK dive, putting the ball between the defender’s sticks and the GK to open the scoring in the second half. Another great cross from Emily Drinkwater came into the D and was picked up by Watson to score her second of the game. Not wanting to miss out on the goal scoring, Abby Scarrow pounced on a rebound ball and lifted it over the keeper to grab her first of the game. Scarrow then got a second from a short corner.

Overall a great performance from the team. Player of the match went to Watson who had a cracker of a game!
