Mens 1 vs Norwich City 2

St Ives lose 4-1 to Norwich City 2s

St Ives slipped to a second consecutive 4-1 defeat. This time at home to Norwich City 2s. St Ives actually started brighter but fell behind to two identical drag flick goals from penalty corners. Despite having more of the ball, St Ives were struggling to make good connections in the final third to create goal scoring opportunities and Norwich held their 2-0 lead to half time.

In the second half, Ives were able to create a few more chances and earned a few penalty corners of their own but were unable to convert any. Norwich then went 3-0 up before Ives pulled one back through Ash Welland, with a first time strike into the bottom corner after good build up play from Alec Bryden and/or Peter Liddle. Norwich had the final say though with a shot that looked to be going wide before deflecting in off a boot to leave the final score 4-1.

Ives were disappointed both with the result and the performance and will look to fix that next Saturday away to Cambridge City 3s.

Man of the match went to David McCarter for some solid defensive work.
