Mens 3 vs Spalding 2

Early-ish start for the 3s with a trip to Lincolnshire at Spalding, who sit close to us in the league, so all to play for.

What a start! fast, pacy hockey from both teams, with Ives under early pressure from the home team, but staying cool in defence and dealing well with the Spalding attacks. Despite some early breaks into the Spalding D, using the pace of the wings and forwards, no result, and Ives found themselves down 1-0 after some well worked approach play. Then breakthrough! Penalty flick to Ives converted by DJ; 1-1. Ives found some pace and confidence - moving the ball well from defence, through midfield and to the forwards, and two quick goals from Piers saw Ives 3-1 up.

Spalding responded well with more pressure which soon resulted in more goals, despite Denman being outstanding in goal. Ives continued to work hard through the second half (despite the 'energetic' team talk from JW...) showing, as usual, all the great commitment, energy and team work that makes the 3's, and playing with the same intensity at the end as at the beginning. More of this (and a less shouty half time) will bring the results we want. MoM Stephen Denman for overall great performance.
