Men’s 2’s hit Cambridge south for 6…
After a number of weeks of great play with little reward St Ives 2's gained 3 points with a 6-0 win over Cambridge South.
Cambridge started strongly putting St Ives under pressure with swift passing. St Ives defence and midfields collectively stood firm with solid breakings down of play to allow Cambridge very little chances in front of goal.
The turning point in the game came then Adam Maltby got clear of Cambridge's high defensive line to calmly go around the keeper and put St Ives one up.
From that point the game swung in St Ives favour with man of the match Jacob Weir bagging 4 goals to go with his hat trick last week and George McCarter adding his own for the 6 goal victory.
It wasn't all one way traffic as the score suggests though. The clean sheet was well fought for with the whole of the defense and goal keeper Jack Renwick playing excellently throughout.
