On a bright and early Saturday morning,

St Ives hockey players were dawning,

Ready to take on the match of the day,

Cambs Uni Threes’ away,

After a frantic start,

Cambridge scored,

But St Ives wouldn’t have their efforts ignored,

Up to the D,

A short corner to play,

Sadly St Ives gave possession away,

They kept on fighting,

A few shots were taken,

Sadly all angles were mistaken,

A positive half time chat,

The girls kept the fight going,

Possession was ours momentum was flowing,

Working up the line,

From green shirt to shirt,

A few more missed short corners,

Our egos were hurt,

We played a good game,

Gave it our best,

Alice got man of the match,

For defending the contest,

Cambridge had won,

But St Ives will keep fighting,

Going up the league table will be truly delighting!
