Mens 4 vs Cambridge City 6

St Ives 4s played top of the table Cambridge City 6. Both teams had equal amounts of possession and it was Cambridge who were the more threatening by sending crashing balls in to the St Ives D. St Ives on the other hand were more finesse in their penetration of the Cambridge D but lacked the finishing touch. The first half saw an injury to stalwart Michael Balson in defense and it was Cambridge who opened the score before half time.

The second half saw continued pressure from St Ives, however, it was Cambridge who extended the lead. Cambridge had an opportunity to score another goal when they were awarded a penalty flick. Cambridge's goalkeeper took the flick but it was superbly saved by Alex Beardall. Altough St Ives continued to press the Cambridge goal they just couldn't find the goal. It was shortly before the end of the game, with tired legs, that Cambridge scored another goal to cement their win.

St Ives can look back at a very good performance all round against top of the table Cambridge City. Special credit goes to Alex Beardall, Tony Warr for stepping up from the 5th team, Jack Benham and Aaron Joyce.
