Mens 1 vs Ipswich-East Suffolk 1

St Ives dispatch IES 5-0

St Ives maintained pressure at the top of the league with their 8th victory in a row and their first clean sheet of the season. Ives are now 2nd in the table with just 3 points separating the top 5 teams.

Ives started the stronger and seized the initiative after Adam Stefanelli-Wilson pounced on a mistake by the IES defence caused by the high forward press and lobbed the keeper from the edge of the D. Ives created more scoring opportunities and eventually doubled the lead through Rory Mooney, who deflected home from a fantastic ball in from Andy Smith.

In the second half, Ives continued to dominate possession and territory. Adam Stefanelli-Wilson extended their lead after being found at the back post by Ashley Welland. The game got scrappy with more fouls being committed. Ives superior fitness paid off though and they took the game away from IES with two goals in the final 10 minutes. First Adam Stefanelli-Wilson slotted away a penalty stroke to complete his hattrick after Alec Bryden was fouled in the act of shooting during a penalty corner. He then scored his fourth goal from close range after being found by Rory Mooney.

Man of the match went to Simon Johnson for keeping his first clean sheet in a year.

Next up, Ives face a tricky away trip to Dereham who sit 5th in the league having played a game less.
