Mens 3 vs March Town 1

The 3’s travelled to Champions March for a home away for home game. In the knowledge that the game was a dead rubber the team were relaxed and looking to enjoy the tough game they knew laid ahead.

the first half went as expected wave after wave of attacks by a well drilled March side descended on the Ives D. Despite being 1-0 down inside the 1st minute the team dug deep to defend and counter attack when possible. Half time came with the team 3-0 down.

Half time message was more of the same and that’s how it started March attacks followed by ives counters. But 10 mins in March broke into the the right hand side of the Ives D the striker immediately hit a lifted shot towards the Ives net, unfortunately massively off target only managed to hit Matt Jago on the forehead just above the eye. Game stopped ambulance called sad end to Jago’s season.

With Jago out of the game man of the match Matt Hodgart dropped into defence and help disrupt March’s flow. 2 more March goals saw the game finished 5-0.

Another great battle form the 3’s against a high quality team. After 6 years the game saw Joep last season in charge come to end, the 3’s finishing comfortably 8th in the table, thanks for everything Joep.

But in what should have been a celebration of Joep’s last game in charge there was only one thing on everyone’s mind as they left the pitch, their hospitalised team mate. Wishing you a speedy recovery Matt Jago.
