The last game of the season saw a changed 3’s team, with a few invitees from the 4’s joining the team. In the warm late afternoon sun, the game started at a steady pace and it seemed that St. Ives were holding their own against a mobile Cambs South 4’s (or is it their 3’s under a different name?). However, thanks to a number of misplaced passes from St. Ives and an especially wild kick from keeper Denman which struck Riley in the gut, Cambs regularly overwhelmed the defence and had soon scored 2 goals. Two more goals before half time meant the teams changed ends with Cambs 4-0 up.
St. Ives were slightly more effective in the second half with the Cambs keeper having to make a number of clearances but more careless errors meant Cambs scored 3 more goals. St Ives fought well but injuries to key players and a captain suffering from multiple bruises meant there were no opportunities for St. Ives to grab a consolation goal. Final score 7-0 to Cambs South
